You Have Your Hands Full!

"You have your hands full." I hear this at least once every time our family goes out. I love to hear it because I LOVE having my hands full with my children! I wish I could think of something wonderful and witty to reply. I always answer, "Yes, it's fun." That's it.

Here is another comment we hear a lot, "Do you homeschool?" Kevin always has a good response. One thing he says is, "We all homeschool, it's just up to the parent what and how much they want to teach when their children are at home." What makes people ask the homeschooling question? I finally asked a lady why she asked me that. She said, "You look like a homeschool mom." OH. I didn't think of the follow up question until after leaving, "Why do I look like a homeschool mom?

Grunion Run!

Chase The News - Family Video's

This weekend in San Pedro we went to the beach at 10:30pm waiting for the grunion to appear. We weren't there too long before those cute little fish faithfully started to flop themselves up onto higher ground. As the waves brought more and more of them in, the kids caught so many that the fish were jumping up out of their bucket. Whenever we spotted a female burrowing herself up to her head in the sand, Kevin blocked all watchers (and grabbers) from her so she could lay her eggs and Chase could film. He got some great footage. After she was done, she flopped herself back into the water...it was an amazing sight to see. And not just see once, but watch many fish do the same thing all across the beach. We dug up some eggs and brought them home to hatch. Adding sea water on them at any time after the initial 10 day period will cause them to hatch. I know some people refuse to believe that God created anything (or needed help from evolution) but studying the process and seeing this wonderful event of the grunion run left us with an amazement again towards God and His details, and the intuitive timing He put into His creation. Anyone who has not seen a grunion run has to go! We'll be there again next year. www.grunion.org
